1st August 2017

Held annually for over a century – apart from a few bad weather years – the Avebury & District Ploughing Match has become a firm favourite in the local agricultural calendar and entries are now invited for the 2017 event.

Scheduled to take place this year on 23 September at Galteemore Farm (N Hues & Sons), Beckhampton SN8 1QJ, the match will have classes to test various skills using different makes and models of tractors and ploughs.

All potential competitors within 15 miles of the venue are eligible to enter, but must be aged 14 or over and be competent on a tractor. Ploughing commences at 9.30 and will finish at around 12 noon.

The closing date for entries is 31 August and the entry form can be downloaded from www.aveburyploughingassociation.co.uk.

Thanks are due to the Committee for organising the event and to David Hues and his family for agreeing to host it.
